England beat Wales at Netball World Cup 2015 in Sydney

England’s medal hopes remain at the Netball World Cup. But for Wales the chances dwindled with a score of 78-33.

In the first match of the second group held on Tuesday, Roses, who are ranked third in the world, lost to the hosts and holder of the title Australia. However the Roses recovered to score an easy win against Wales, who are at the bottom of the Pool F following two consecutive losses.

On Friday, England will face South Africa to secure a place in the semi-finals. On the other hand in the third and final group game Wales will face Australia, who are 10-times champions since Australia beat South Africa on Wednesday with a score of 66-31. The two top teams from each of the second round pool will go ahead to the semi-finals on Saturday before the grand final which will be held on Sunday.

England started off rapidly and took a lead of 42-16 by half time itself. Wales failed to recover but they did produce the best netball of the third quarter as Georgia Rowe the 20-year Wales shooter impressed everyone under the posts.

Tracey Neville, England’s head coach could make changes to her team in the last 15 minutes keeping in mind the next match against South Africa who are 5th in the world ranking.

Meanwhile from Pool E, New Zealand, unbeaten till now seem set to reach the semi-final with their 57-49 victory against Malawi. Scotland too scored their third win of the tournament against Sri Lanka with a score of 59-27 and will face Fiji next.
